Tony started trading as A M Lane (Estate & Countryside Management) in 1993 and soon won his first soft wood thinning contract on the Duchy of Cornwall estate.  Busi's ness grew to include tree surgery, fencing, equestrian cross country fence construction, stone walling and also chainsaw instruction.

In 2005 A M Lane became incorporated and moved away from contracting into arboricultural consultancy, training and H&S advice.  Tony was elected to the Institute of Chartered Foresters in 2007 and in the same year was also elected to be a Fellow of the Arboricultural Association.  In 2009 he was elected to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as a professional member, one of only a handful of arboricultural consultants to hold both chartered memberships.

Tony was awarded the Lycetts Forest Industries Safety Trophy 2008 in recognition of his contribution to health and safety in the forest industry.  This reflects Tony's hands on practical approach to Health & Safety which emphasises to need to balance common sense, commercial reality and individual employee welfare whilst complying with best practice.  He is now a Registered Safety Practitioner and is a member of the HSE endorsed Occupational Safety & Health Consultants Register.

Tony is on the editorial board of the Arboricultural Journal and an industry representative on the Lantra Sector Skills Council'Trees and Timber Group'.

Peter Best B.Ed., CMILT

Consultant & Quality Manager:

Qualified to teach in 2005 with a B.Ed. (Primary) Honours, Peter Best combines his love of learning with a common sense approach to improving business performance. Peter worked in the logistics sector for a large westcountry employer whilst developing as a teacher. During this period, he filled a variety of roles which helped him to develop resources and approaches for improving business performance through work based learning.


With over thirty years experience working in both the Public and Private Sector, Peter has a wide range of experience in a number of industries including;

• Education and Skills
• Healthcare

During a four year term as a school governor Peter took every training opportunity available and used the skills and knowledge gained to further support his approaches to training and business improvement.

Peter, a Chartered Member of CMILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport) holds an Internal Auditor certificate for ISO 9001.
